Resources

This page is where you can access directly the local and national organizations and information resources we recommend. This includes a quick list of Middletown Township government contacts. This is also where we are building a library of maps and photos—many used elsewhere on the site—in a searchable format.

Township Government

Middletown Township Parks and Recreation Plans the development of new parks and organizes community events throughout the year. If you see an issue with one of our parks, or if you have ideas for improvement, our P&R department listens and responds. If you’re in the mood to attend one of the annual events (Art in the park?!) or one of our community field trips, be sure to sign up for the E-Newsletter on the bottom of the township homepage.

Parks & Recreation Committee meetings are held at 6:00PM on the first Wednesday of each month.

Middletown Township Environmental Advisory Committee Focuses on addressing and reducing the environmental impact on our community from new and existing development. Unmitigated stormwater runoff? Hazardous waste concern? Thoughts on climate action plans? Engage with our EAC so they can advocate for us all.

Environmental Advisory Committee meetings are held at 6:30PM on the third Tuesday of each month.

Middletown Township Township Council Votes on and enforces all new budgets and development within the community. Regular updates by the Chief of Police and Fire Marshal. This is the front line to discuss your concerns. Comments from the public are requested and recorded at the start of every meeting.

Township Council Meetings are held at 7:00PM on the first and third Wednesday of each month.  The first meeting of the month is a work session meeting.  All meetings are considered voting meetings.

Middletown Township Parks and Recreation Open Space Plan

(PROS Plan). An extensive long term plan for the natural land development of our township, including sections on open space, trails, and parks. This is the blueprint for our township.

Exciting excerpts:
“As discussed in the Middletown Comprehensive Plan update 2020, Middletown Township residents regard open space as a critically important component of the community. These open spaces include dedicated land for passive recreation, parcels that are to remain undeveloped and are not open for public access, homeowners’ association-owned land not intended for public use, and lastly Township parks with active or passive recreation. Open space increases property values and adds to the quality of life experienced by the community’s residents.”

“Enhancing and maintaining the large trail network for future generations proves to be equally as important with over 85% of survey respondents choosing trail maintenance and trail expansion as their highest recreation priority. This Township-wide trend holds true across the State, according to the Pennsylvania Outdoor Recreation Plan 2020-2024, “more than three-quarters of outdoor recreation enthusiasts identified community or regional trail systems as their highest priority for facility investment”.

Thank you to Steve Wood, member of Middletown Township Land Conservancy, for contributing to the PROS plan.
